Sorry more questions, is English widely spoken in any of the cities, what's the cost of living like for tourists and would four nights be too much?

Ive been to krakow and really loved it. Dead cheap for eating out and full of history. English is widely spoken in the centre

I'm following this with interest, they're places we're considering. Especially Krakow.

I recently moved to Prague - everyone speaks English especially in the centre. Eating out is fairly cheap say pizza and a soft drink in city centre sit down Italian for less than a tenner. The weather is fab - its 23 degrees and beautiful sunshine today. The castle is lovely to visit, you can do a boat ride on the river, and the old town is lovely just to wander through. Plus as the exchange rate from pounds to czech crowns is like 1:30 you feel like a millionaire with your 5,000 crown notes (£170). Prague has beautiful parks and the beer is cheaper than water - what's not to like? Also transport for the airport to city centre is easy and a 3 day ticket for metro/bus/tram is £10.

In short - eating out is cheap, transport is good and cheap, as for hotels because transport is good just pick somewhere on a metro line, it doesn't have to be in the city centre as the longest I've ever waited for a metro was 6 minutes and that was after midnight.

Thanks for your replies and also to Renaissance for your detailed reply. I've been working today so will have a good look tomorrow and make a decision.

We're planning on going for four nights. Is that about right?
