We took 2 children down through Burgundy to Italy and back through the Loire. Then, a few years later, the same children, and their older sister, down to the Lot Valley. The first time round, we played the 'Commitments' tape about 200 times, sang silly songs, told shaggy dog stories and made lots of loo stops. The second time, they were teenagers and slept most of the way. I would recommend making sure you have plenty of water, stop a lot for loo visits (French motorways are well supplied) and, for your own sanity, have a proper stop for lunch in a town. Beware that, in provincial France, lunch starts at 12 and finishes promptly at 2. You may find it hard to get into a restaurant small towns much after 1. Hard to give much more advice without knowing their ages. Good luck and have fun!
