Flight delay repay Bangkok-London?

Does anyone know if I'd be eligible to claim any compensation for a BA flight that was 5+ hours late arriving?

I know the EU delay repay protection rule applies within the EU but any knowledge of departing a non-EU country landing in an EU country?

Currently waiting on the flight still; however passengers been told the pilot is ill so we have to wait for another one to become available. He/she needs to have their legal rest time before they can fly again so it'll be 5 hours after the scheduled time before we take off. Doubt we can make up 2+ hours in the air (isn't the very minimum you have to be delayed by 3 hours before you're eligible to submit a claim?)

Thanks in advance, a very tired and exhausted DressDrama x

If it's an eu airline landing at an eu airport then it's covered by the regs. However airlines argue that staff illness is an extraordinary circumstance. Its worth putting in a claim it's easy enough to do. Letter templates are on money saving expert site.
