Majorca advice

Anyone have suggestions of nice resorts to stay in Majorca?
Never been before so up for any advice.
Like to be either walking distance to town/beach, or out of town if there's enough to keep 2 children (7 and 8) amused. Don't have 000's to spend so any reasonable gems you know of?

We have been to puerto pollensa area twice and loved it. Although we stayed in the countryside near Pollensa old town as we prefer that area.
We did a day trip to Soller and I thought it was gorgeous!
We stayed in private villas but if you do an advanced search on here you will get loads of threads on PP and Mallorca, it’s really popular on here.

I've only visited once, but really enjoyed my holiday to Majorca. We stayed in Palma Nova. Went with DD who was 9 months at the time so we were pretty limited to what we could do. The beach was lovely and had blow up type assault courses off the shore which looked fun! Plenty of water sports, shops, restaurants etc but not too lively which we found nice.

We did take a walk into magaluf one day which was about 15-20 mins away. We went in the afternoon so it was pretty quiet but gosh I can imagine it being completely different at night so wouldn't recommend staying there.

I'm considering a holiday with DD on my own at some point and wouldn't hesitate to return to Palma nova. Flights a couple of hours, and you've got everything there you want/need.

This is quite a reasonably priced hotel www.insotelhotelgroup.com/en/hotels/mallorca/insotel-cala-mandia-resort-spa/families When my dc were about 7, I found that they had grown out of the little splash parks and playgrounds at most of the hotels. We liked this because it has a couple of decent water slides, a playground aimed at older children with a zip wire, children's mountain bikes and helmets and a children's section in the buffet. There's also a kids club if you need it.
My DH and I also liked that the family suite had a separate room with twin beds so we could still talk and watch TV after the dc had gone to bed.

That hotel looks lovely, would say it was on the pricey side though.

I second Puerto Pollensa.

We stayed in an apartment a row back from the beach about a 15 - 20 min walk South of the main harbour area. We found the apartment through Owners Direct or HomeAway website

It was fantastic as there were still bars, restaurants and a couple of small shops nearby but was away from the busier, more expensive harbour area. Parking wasn't a problem there and the beaches a little less crowded . In the evening we'd sometimes walk into town along the seafront to eat.
