I have now looked at about a million holidays but can’t find anything. Has anyone been to Cape Verde? If so I hat was it like?

It will be me, DH and DS (4)

Yes twice. Didn’t meant to go twice to sameresorr but there you are.
I wouldn’t go again. It’s a very long flight and it’s not worth it IMO. There is Nothing there, I mean absolutely nothing! It’s very very windy and it rained (torrentially!) both times we went!

Ooo when did you go?

Cape Verde was just featured on Holidays Unpacked on C4 on Monday night. It looked very dry and dusty and the reporter said it was a 6-hour flight from the UK. There didn't look to be a huge amount to do there either - water sports and lying on the beach - but I couldn't see much else.

OP with a 4-year-old I would go to the Canaries, the Balearics or mainland Spain rather than Cape Verde. When do you want to go?

We went sept AND Oct 2016. I don’t know anyone who has been who would return. It’s not HORRIBLE, the resorts are nice. But there’s nothing outside the resorts. Just barren wasteland basically.

Think I will avoid Cape V then, thanks everyone!

juneau - we want to go in July, your suggestions are pretty much what’s coming up in searches but it brings up 100,000 options and I have holiday choosing fatigue!

We went at new year and loved it ! The weather was amazing the food very good there is nothing to do but was so relaxing we went to boa vista and in July I’m taking my 14 yr old to Sal. Loved it for winter sun

Ah okay - well then I'd go to the Canaries rather than mainland Spain or the Balearics - as those will be really hot in July. Strangely the Canaries are cooler, thanks to the Atlantic breezes that blow in and cool the islands.

I've been to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote (stayed the Sandos Papagayo and would recommend it - review in the MN travel reviews - it's AI and has several pools, restaurants, kids club - but it's not cheap); and Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria (stayed at the Cordial Mogan Valle apartments - I also reviewed this - and would recommend and will be cheaper than the Sandos hotel, if budget is an issue).

Another option I would recommend for July with a 4-year-old would be Brittany - we had 2 fab holidays there with small DC - lovely sandy beaches and lots to do.
