Please help!. Sons passport page slightly tore

Hi!.

I’m really worried, my oldest sons passport was stolen and slightly torn when we recovered it (I will attach a picture).

LINK: ibb.co/dBQyR7

The problem is we fly in 7 days from today to Italy from Manchester.

I have been to 2 different post offices and a travel agent and they all told me it would be fine BUT I rang HM this morning and asked the question (obviously they haven’t seen it) and they said I need to order a new one which will take 7 days. The problem is there is literally no appointments until FRIDAY and I fly TUESDAY!.

What do I do ?!?!?!?!?

Thanks.

Your link doesn’t work. Depending on how bad it is and as long as the passport still scans I suspect he’d be fine but I get that you don’t want to chance it. Have you tried other passport offices for appointments and could you travel if they had one?

It works for me?. Is there anywhere else I can upload as it may help me get an answer. It’s on the photo page. It’s torn about 2/10, I’ve cellotaped and barely noticeable it just looks like a crease now.

I don’t drive, he said he is willing to go to London and back on the coach but only appointment they have is Thursday and I feel that isn’t enough time.

As long as all the necessary information is clearly legible and photo and name perfectly attached then it's fine. Had a problem with a student on a trip abroad where this page was torn cleanly out of the passport and it was still fine (!)

TroubledLichen · 08/05/2018 14:28

There are other passport offices if they have appointments/you can get to one by train. But I’m sure it will be fine. If he’s checked in online and not dropping a bag it will only be looked at by the airline at the boarding gate. The only thing I can think of that might cause trouble is that given the location of the rip, it might not scan when he goes through the border upon arrival. But honestly not sure.

Checked in online, online taking hand luggage, but surely someone will check it in security when he is going through to get his bag checked??

Your passport will not be checked at Manchester until getting on a plane-
As long as it can still be scanned I'd be incredibly surprised if you had any difficulty. Just sort it out when you get home.

Is it the right bottom corner? I had to look really really hard to see anything at all so I can't see it being a problem. It doesn't look like there's damage to any of the information on there and should still scan.

I don't even see the tear

Is it diagonal at the bottom right?

halfwitpicker · 08/05/2018 19:51

They won't even notice. If they do just say you didn't realize - blame your DS.

The bottom of the page in the middle, next to MRZ
