Alton towers - best/cheapest way?

We're thinking of going to Alton Towers, kids are under 8 so it would be cbeebies world and a few other areas - not the big rides.

We have 241 vouchers (but these only work on on-the-day prices -£55). It's £33 in advance. Plus £6 parking. We thought of getting a short break and staying in a hotel - but this seems very expensive.

Any recommendations?

Tesco vouchers is the cheapest way to do it if you have enough of those?
If you want to do an overnight stay not actually at the resort then there are some nice B&B's around Alton or a Premier Inn in Uttoxeter which is about 20 mins away.
