Very excitingly or terrifyingly i've booked a light to Cape Town for Christmas. It will be my first Christmas with my children at exh's so have decided to escape but understandably others not so keen on coming with me at this time of year.
So looking for hotel & excursion recs. Would like to eat in hotel on Christmas day and have some chill out time by a pool while I'm there.
Any recommendations???

What has vacancies!!! It’s Christmas!!! Ultra high season. Cape Town hotels are better by the beach at Christmas so look at Camps Bay or Clifton. Generally South African guest houses are lovely and stylish and many have pools. Don’t discount them. Without looking, I have no idea if places I have stayed in have vacancies, so even if I mention them, it’s probably not worthwhile because they are probably booked up. Also consider renting a house but it will be top $. Get the best you can off booking.com or similar and make a shortlist. Won’t be cheap though.

The water shortage there is a real problem and hopefully it will rain during our summer or the pools might be empty!

Days out from Cape Town include Stellenbosch, Franschoek and the winelands. Hermanous and the Garden Route, Chapmans Peak, Boulders Beach and Utzig Constsntia Winery is lovely. Lots of settlements between Cape Town and the Cape for beaches and restaurants.

In Cape Town there is plenty to see such as Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Gardens and Robben Island. Great food scene and try and fit in a visit to The Silo.

Do try and stay in a beach area at Christmas. It’s just more fun.
