Malaysia airlines

Anyone ever flown with Malaysia airlines? I'm nervous of booking with them because of all the things that have happened to their planes 😕... But they have really good prices...

We will be flying Melb to London with two kids aged 5 and 3.

Anyone had any good/bad experiences? Should I be so wary or not?

Many thanks

Flew with them in January, London to Auckland with a stopover in KL. Good service, great food and good selection of films etc. Everything was on time, planning to use them again.

Hi. I have flown with them four times (including return). We flew London to KL directly. The entertainment is good and food was ok. Overall service was ok.

Thanks. They seem good or at least equal to any others... guess just nervous our plane could go missing... but I know chances are very small.

Were they children travelling on your flights? How did they seem to go?

I've flown with them many time

It helps to remember that the number of 'incidents' is minute - compared with the 100s of Malaysian Airline flights in the air at any given time.

I've probably flown with DC on them, I can't recall. Regardless, their long haul flights will be littered with kids. Wink

We flew with them to KL last year. I wouldn't chose to use them again. Uncomfortable seats, my TV didn't work, neither did my 10 year olds so it made for a long flight!
It just felt cheap for a long haul flight - water given in plastic cups rather than giving bottles of water...

@emma123456 that's what I am worried about. Melbourne to London is a long way to do "cheap"... I think we'll change b date of our visit and go with either Emirates Qatar or Virgin

They are in financial difficulties and this means they could push replacement part and essential maintenance just for another two flights or replacing experienced pilots with younger that cost less.
There was an emergency landing in Alice Springs not so long ago .

I wouldn't fly with them.

I've flown them a few times Lon-KL. They are okay but have got worse with their budget cuts and staff being laid off. Have had broken entertainment systems and dirty planes. Singapore is way better. But if you're price conscious then go for Malaysia over the Chinese ones (which tend to have long stopovers in China).
