Anyone thinking about this?

We don’t want the cost of an organised trip from the U.K. but how easy will it be just to get tickets and organise everything ourselves?

Ages away I know .....

Easy! Toykyo was very easy to travel around. Loved it there. We went independently and it was fine.

Hi thanks- I’m referring to the Olympics tickets. I’m not sure the best way to get them.

Supposedly you'll be able to buy them online. I assume they'll have an English website. They haven't announced when they'll go on sale yet though.

When I was a teenager we went to the Atlanta Olympics with Track and Field tours. I think they’re still going. They sorted tickets and had us in a hotel with other foreign fans (and incidentally the bbc radio 5 live commentary team)

Remember how difficult it was to get tickets for the London Olympics? I cannot see why it would be easy in Japan. 40 million people live in and around Tokyo. There are 125 million people in Japan. That’s double who is in the uk. One imagines demand will greatly outstrip supply! You could get lucky but it’s a bit of a long shot in my view.

I’d watch it on the tv and do a holiday separately. It’s an amazing country to visit!

I’m guessing the opening and closing ceremony tickets will sell out fast but hopefully they’ll sell some by lottery, so you may get lucky. I think it will be easier to get tickets for less-known events or events that the Japanese don’t excel at. Japanese Olympic coverage is very Japan-focused.

A bit like ours in the uk then! We don’t see much weight lifting, table tennis or fencing do we? Were any of these event easy to get tickets for in London? I remember a lot of people were disappointed!
