Summer holiday

Am hoping for some advice. Am looking for 2 week holiday with DH DS8 and DD6 in Europe. We've always done villas before but the DCs are getting a bit bored in a villa now and want a big hotel, watersports, slides etc. My idea of hell.

I can't bear the thought of fighting over sun loungers and queuing for food. I also really like eating out in little tavernas etc.

Surely there's somewhere out there that's best of both worlds? Any ideas you lovely lot? Have £5k to spend.

Snap! Same requirements and same budget!

We are going through the same thing, the only difference being that we usually camp in France.

Kids are happy to go anywhere but we decided to do something different instead of camping! I thought dc would like slides etc but I dread fighting for sun loungers and every time I find somewhere that looks good the reviews are awful!

Any advice welcome 😊😊

@Kahlua4me yeah the reviews are depressing me too. Hence mumsnet advice. Might post on AIBU for traffic.

That’s a good plan, AIBU should get more responses.

I will keep following!

We quite like doing a week in a villa & week in hotel (or 2 hotels). That way you get a bit of both & change of scenery.

We've done this in Menorca, Italy & Turkey (although Turkey ended up being just hotels & Italy was just SC but in two parts).

It helps with my inability to decide & gives the DC the water slide, pool but that I couldn't cope with for a whole holiday.

Don't post on aibu unless its an actual aibu. There is chat if you want traffic.

I'd go to Eurocamp if I were you.

I used to (well, still do), like the same as you but we now cruise. It works so well with teen DC. The biggest downside is not visiting those tavernas but at least we do get to visit new places and wander round cities. We find Sea days very relaxing and DC like the clubs. We usually go with Celebrity and have never found them to be crowded but they don't have water sports or slides etc. Other lines do (royal carribean for example), but we found them to be too hectic for our liking.
