Any recommendations? Don't want to have to get two hotel rooms for just three of us (DD would be 7 so I'd go in a room with her, but still, rather us be together in a family suite).

www.hotelfron.is/apartments/one-bedroom-apartments/
Centrally located.
Basic but clean. Bar and restaurant downstairs.
Food and drink v expensive in Iceland so that little kitchen will save you a fortune.

Have you tried Air BnB for renting out a one bed flat or something?

The YHA youth hostel is basic (obviously) but really lovely and very affordable. Plus you can self caterbof it's easier. If I ever go back I won't even look at any other accommodation!

StormcloakNord I've never used Air BnB. I know a friend who uses it when she goes to Tenerife, but it creeps me out a bit really, staying in someones house.

Good idea though, I might have a look and if it works out like a good idea and good locations I may have to bite the bullet.

I stayed in the youth hostel near the harbour, great location and I had a triple en suite room. Obviously not as fancy as a hotel but very clean and comfortable.
