Any recommendations for hotels (me DH and two kids) or apartments?

I've been there years ago and remember it all bring within walking distance so are there any areas better / closer to the main attractions? I think i stayed near / in Dam Square but in very grim accommodation so have been avoiding looking at places near there or the station but it might all be a bit nicer now?

Hi. I'm an Amsterdam blogger. I would not stay around Dam Square or the Station. Both are fairly grotty areas.

Amsterdam is very small so even if you're a little out the centre you'll be fine.

Take a look at this post for heaps of ideas at all price brackets

The blog also has loads of ideas for family friendly things to do and places to eat.

Let me know if I can help with any questions. Always happy to if I can (it's a fantastic city with kids!)

The Vondelpark area is good for families. Quiet and green and close to the museums.
