Amsterdam hotel recomendations

Hi

Thinking of going to Amsterdam for a long weekend in September.

I've been a few times but not for many years and I'm shocked at the price of hotels.

We'll be travelling by train - possibly not arriving until 11pm so don't want to be too far outside the main city. We dont mind having to travel into the centre/museum area during the day but don't want to spend ages getting there in the first instance.

I don't mind paying £100-£120 a night but most of the hotels I'd normally look at for city breaks are wanting £200 plus for a night. Air BnB are equally as expensive.

Can anyone recommend some where that might fit the bill.

Wooly

This place was lovely. Not sure if it's on budget. www.stay.amsterdamhouseofartsandcrafts.com/en-gb

we have stayed at CitizenM, a short walk from the Zuid station, easy from Schipol.

or the Holiday Inn Arena Towers....this one is a bit far out, but moments from the station from the airport and underground back into town, also very easy to get to from the airport.

Both of them are fully booked the weekend we wanted. I'm beginning to think there might be something going on.

September 6th - 9th........

Thanks for the suggestions.

We stayed at Europa 32 a couple of years ago. It’s basic but clean and welcoming, about a 4-5min tram from the main shopping streets and museum area.

We weren’t looking for luxury but this was a good base.

Invisimamma · 24/04/2018 08:46

Sorry it’s Europa 92

Hampton by Hilton Biljmer Arena is right opposite the station, 15 minutes into town.

Room Mate Aitana? Modern, large, clean, nice staff. Short walk from Centraal. It priced up reasonably for me, but we were three sharing.

I like Mr Jordaan Hotel, beside the Bloemengracht in, notsurprisingly, the Jordaan. About £150 per night.

I'm an Amsterdam blogger. Take a look at this post (ignore that it's focussed on family friendly accommodation, it should give you ideas at all price levels)

amsterdamwonderland.com/2016/06/16/family-friendly-accommodation-in-amsterdam/

In fact there are other ideas in the accommodation section that might be of interest too:

And the site is packed with inspiration for things to do and places to eat. Have fun. It's an amazing city - and if I can help with advice on areas etc just let me know

We always stay at the hotel Sebastian in Amsterdam. It's lovely, friendly and a good location. Generally book direct for a better deal!

We have recently stayed at Hotel Library which was fine - very central.

Have also stayed on this houseboat which was lovely (& also very central): myhouseboatamsterdam.com/houseboats/one

Another vote for Europa 92. And the airport bus stops really nearby and is cheap.

We stayed on a houseboat. More atmospheric than a hotel
