First time passport application

My best friends daughter is 23 and applying for her first adult passport and they're a but worried about it. She's never had a child's passport before.

She sent off her application by check and send on April 11th and got a text on the 16th saying if they needed anymore information they would contact her by the may 7th if they needed information or if they needed an interview. She's not heard anything else since. Should she be worried? Or does it take a couple of weeks?

I should imagine now is a relatively busy period for the passport office. its only been 4 days since they said theyd received it. I certainly wouldnt worry about anything until after May 7th. Even replacement passports take more than a week (longer if they then moan about the bloody photos too)

This time of year is when it starts to get busy as people are getting ready for their summer holidays and need to have the passports sorted before that
