Croatia advice

Hi there, looking from some tips from people who've been to Croatia. I want to spend one week cheapish island hopping then one week in a lovely hotel/small resort. This is family of four with kids age 5 and 8 first two weeks of school hols. If anyone has been anywhere they would recommend would love to hear. Thank you!

We had four days last year in Split - highly recommend it. It’s a beautiful city built by the Romans but has a lived in feel. The coastline was gorgeous & eating out was really reasonable. Ferries connect it to islands like Hvar so it’s s good starting point for a multi destination trip (which we plan to do!)

This is exactly what we want too so am following for tips. We rented a place near Tivat in Montenegro a few years ago which is stunning. We flew to Dubrovnik and then drove down. Bay of Kotor is stunning but would like to sample a bit more of Croatia.

Also interested! Looking for somewhere though that isn’t scorching in late August. Am I foolish to even consider Croatia? Always wanted to go, but can’t handle temps in the high 30s /early 40s

We flew to zadar and really liked it. It's quite small but we found plenty to do. There are some lovely boat trips from there and ferries to the islands. We also hired a car and went inland to plitvice national park. There is another national park where you can swim in the waterfalls. It looks lovely. We didn't go because we were there at Easter but I'd definitely go in the summer.

We were in Croatia last year and went to Dubrovnkik, Hvar, Split & then Krka Park - we went in July and it was very hot which we are happy with but if you don't like it too hot, I would avoid Croatia in August. They had a heat wave when we were there and it was well into the 40s
