Easy-jet Baby Baggage

I'm flying tomorrow with 18m DS on my lap (oh joy), and had previously looked at the easy jet website and seen:

"If you’re travelling with an infant, you can bring an additional baby changing bag."
www.easyjet.com/en/help/boarding-and-flying/flying-with-children

Just went on to check dimensions and came across there family FAQ which say:

"Infants sitting on an adult’s lap don’t qualify for free cabin baggage"
www.easyjet.com/common/img/EN_FAMILY_TRAVEL_QA.pdf

Anyone travelled with them recently and know which is right? Terrified I now need to start repacking.

Sorry can’t help but following as I’ll need it in a few months time

Basically, you can have a changing bag, but can’t have extra baggage onboard for your dc. You can have your personal allowance and your dc can have their change bag onboard?

Thank you Londistance

So if I have nothing in the hold, a small suitcase that fits within the size limits for my own hand luggage (in overhead locker), and then a backpack for DS (under seat) it should be ok?

That's how I initially read it, but now got myself into a bit of a panic.

They can have a changing bag, car seat and buggy while under 2 and on your lap.. all airlines have a variation on this with some also giving them a hold case (flew with BA, monarch and easyJet while DD was under 2 last year)

EasyJet were pretty ok with us rocking up to the gate with a buggy covered in bags but we could travel for a weekend with all her stuff in a changing bag..

Might add it was monarch and BA that gave her hold luggage free not easyJet!

Hi I flew easyJet yesterday!

So you will be allowed one cabin baggage for yourself and one hand luggage for baby. If you have booked speedy boarding or easyJet plus you get an extra piece of hand luggage for yourself.

Just make sure you only have your bag and baby's bag, not even a handbag separately. I saw many people asked to fit handbags into their carryon suitcases so they only had one piece of luggage.

You also get baby equipment free to put in the hold. I believe it is up to 2 pieces. Car seat, buggy, baby rucksack carrier etc. Check these in at bag drop, but you can keep you buggy with you until to reach the plane, just check it in at bag drop to get it labelled up properly and then keep it.

Excellent information widgetbeana, feeling a lot better now.

Not taking buggy or car seat, so won't need to check anything in. I'll be loaded up like a pack horse though with DS in sling, backpack and pull along case; but at least we should get out of airport quickly.

If DS's in sling will they count it as an item of clothing? or do I need to leave room to fit it in a bag?

Slings don't count, so long as they are soft fabric type. Stretchies, ring slings, connectas, ergo, manduca etc don't count.

The big structured rucksack types do count (but they are massive with a metal frame!).
