Menorca - anyone hired a car? or had a coach transfer with thomas cook?

Holidaying in menorca very soon and due to age of dd probably need to either hire a car to use a car seat.

Thomas Cook can't guarantee the coach would have a 3 point seatbelt, it would most likely just be a lap belt which can't secure the Joie stages we use when travelling. Anyone had a coach transfer that does have a 3 point belt?

DH would sooner hire a car than book a private transfer or get a taxi. Most hire cars I've looked at are a shuttle bus ride to the desk. Anyone done it? Is it far? is it a pain in the arse?

He would sooner pay an expensive in terminal hire. I'm willing but also try to be sensible and cut costs where possible.

Any experiences would be great. Thanks.

We hired from one outside the airport. There was a mini bus waiting for us easy enough to find and a 5 min journey. Just make sure you get full-full tank of fuel and fill up on the way back. Also make sure you read reviews and take photos of any damage on the car just in case. We didn't need them but it's always safer! The roads were nice to drive on and we stayed on the furthest point of the island so 45 min drive.
We had our 3 year old with us so quite a lot of luggage etc but it was still easy enough. We did the shuttle coach the year before and vowed never again the air con was rubbish we were boiling hot and trying to keep a 2 year old cool was a nightmare packed in like sardines! Hope this helps!

I used Keels and Wheels in Mahon. They were amazing. Lovely fellow met us in the airport carpark and handed us the keys to the car which had chilled water inside. I've done the shuttle bus thing and it was a pain but this was totally stress free. I will definitely use them again when/ if I ever go back to Menorca. www.keelsandwheels.co.uk/keelsandwheels_about_us.php

Try either AutosVictoria (Menorca Car Hire) or Momple Rent a Car (book online before you go, but pay when you get there)

Both of these will meet you in the arrivals hall or just outside in the airport car park. Very easy indeed, and no shuttle bus needed.

Menorca is a great island to hire a car, very easy to drive around, generally good main roads, and you can get to places that would be difficult by bus.
