I'd like to plan a UK weekend break at the end of May, to somewhere neither me or DP have been before. We enjoy eating and drinking out and general daytime mooching so somewhere with good pubs is a must. We're not fancy restaurant types, but good cafes are always enjoyed. Preferably not a city. We've done the South West and Wales to death, and I've done the Lake District, so looking for recommendations of elsewhere to explore. Coastal would be lovely but not essential. Thanks!

Brighton. Nice shops, good choice of restaurants. The pavilion is really interesting too.
York is lovely.

North Norfolk - Blakeney, Wells Next The Sea. Fabulous beach at Holkham. Crab sandwiches yum.

Aldeburgh/Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Aldeburgh has two very famous fish and chip shops, some individual little cafes where you can spend hours reading the paper and lots of nik nak shops for browsing. There's nice coastal walk from Aldeburgh to Thorpness where there's a couple of tea rooms and a boating lake. Walberswick further along the coast is a lovely little sandy beach. Snape Maltings is a 10 minute drive inland and is a collection of gourmet food shops, homewear and interior shops, a concert venue, art gallery and cafe.

East Sussex - East Dean or a village near Eastbourne such as Alfriston. Lots of pubs, nice walks and lots of cafes. Amazing scenery such as Beachy Head and Seven Sisters. East Dean is well connected to Eastbourne and Brighton by bus.
