Hi all. Was wondering if the hive mind could suggest any wonderful sights in the Amsterdam/Harleem area for my little boy. We are going to be in the area for 4 days and just looking for any hidden gems I have missed!!

Will be travelling by plane, no plans to drive but happy on public transport. Have visited the city a few times but never with child in tow!

Thanks.

Thank you, this is on my list. Would you recommend pre booking or can we just turn up?

Thanks.

Hey @bookishtartlet get ready to have an amazing time!!

I'm an Amsterdam blogger and have heaps of ideas and suggestions on my blog for kids including a 48 hour itinerary.

Linnaeushof - Europe's biggest playground - is also nearish Haarlem and perfect for your son's age.

Please let me know if I can help with anything. Xx

Oh and you don't need to book Nemo but get there early as it does get busy (it's fantastic)

Just back from staying in Haarlem. Can recommend "hello I'm local" hostel. Really lovely place
We liked dinner and a stroll in Haarlem.
Nemo was good (but if you've been to science museum v similar). The roof was best bit. Loved the maritime museum more . The ship is great the cafe is yummy and reasonably priced (you don't need to pay for entry to use it). Cafe at Nemo looked good too but we'd bought sandwiches. We found the area between station and dam square a bit "cannabis heavy" seriously stank in places and my 10 year old hated the smell. Also we had a close call with the red light district -with a 3 yr old you'll probably find it easier to gloss over. However all Dutch people we met were lovely.

Have a great trip

I forgot to say at maritime museum there is a really cool lifesize interactive board game.. at 3 your little one may be a bit young but I loved it...
