Scared about plane seats

Hello,

I am a size 24/26 and I desperately want to travel next month (both with work and as a holiday). I am in the process of losing weight but will not have time to lose much more before I go but i am terrified I will be forced off the plane for not fitting in the 17 inch seat (ryanair and virgin atlantic). I'm having panic attacks over it!

I have put photos of myself in my profile so my shape is visible to people (as people carry weight differently).

Can anyone put my mind at ease?

Hi, I have been a size twenty before on easyJet and wasn’t even on the end of the normal seatbelt, so I’m sure it may just be a case of a seatbelt extension and not much wriggle room. Good luck with the weight loss and your journeys xx

For some reason I cannot attach any photos so here is a link to give a better idea of my size.

I think you have a slimmer bum and thighs than me so you will definitely fit. That said it may not be very comfortable.

How long is your flight?

ineedamoreadultieradult · 06/04/2018 17:10

Ive looked at your pics and You will be fine my mum is significantly bigger and has managed on all sorts of airlines. You probably won't even need a seatbelt extensions never mind being thrown off. Go and enjoy yourself.

loveka · 06/04/2018 17:13

Oh god yes of course you will fit! You look great by the way!

I fly every week and see people way bigger than you.

waterlily200 · 06/04/2018 17:24

I haven't looked at your photos but I'm sure you will be fine. Pregnant ladies fly! Also I'm large and I was 28 weeks pregnant and flew and I was amazed I got the seat belt round me but I did.

Enjoy!

You carry the weight well, you look like a 20 to me. You should definitely be fine. Not a lot of wriggle room as PP said.

My friend was worried about this recently. She was flying to Japan with an airline that is allegedly really strict and makes people buy extra seats for comfort. Her husband made a seat out of cardboard and she was really worried as she didn’t fit. However, in reality it was fine, and she had no problems.

My sister is a size 24 and has never complained about not fitting in a plane seat. I would advise getting an aisle seat if you think you may spill into the seat next to you. Premium Economy seats on VA are a little wider.

Haven't you posted about this recently?
