What sort of holidays? Family ones with activities for school age children and parents?

franca70 · 10/05/2007 12:29

yes! I simply can't remember the name of the region with lakes and rivers where you can go canoeing...

In the Alps perhaps Franca ?! Haute Savoie, Portes du Soleil, Trois Vallees ... ?Crystal and Esprit do them or you can book direct with a resort and organise activities yourselves through the tourist office or local companies.

Ardeche, that's the name I've been looking for! thanks! No no, we don't really want organised holidays, I was just looking for ideas to start with... (it;s actually for some friends of ours, whom we might join on our way back from Italy to England this summer....)
what is keycamp?

Haute savoie is lovely. More lakes there too.

In Ardeche, Vallon Pont d'arc is a small town with lots of campsites along a stretch of the river. Canoe descents tend to start from there - you can do 25km taking you through the gorges, and under the famous natural arch. They pick you up at the end. Quite safe in the summer as the rapids are not so extreme. That's a long day's canoeing.

thanks that sounds good. I bet my sporty friend (at least he likes to pretend he is sporty, ignoring the fact that he is getting old ) would love that.

Haute Savoie is great for holidays (canoeing on Lake Annecy, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, walking, etc). Very much en route between Italy and the UK.

franca70 · 11/05/2007 14:25

thank you all, I'll start researching on the net!
