Online check-in - is it worth it?

We're flying with Jet2 from LBA (Leeds Bradford) in a few days. Our 'manage booking' says we can check-in online but from past experiences, we have seen no difference between 'that' and not checking in online.

Our seats are already chosen, we have to queue anyways to check in our hold luggage and from what I can remember from last year, jet2 do not have a designated desk for dropping off hold luggage (hold luggage need individual tags on anyways!)

So is online check-in worth it when you have 3 hold pieces of hold luggage and a buggy to check-in?

Yes, if your flight is over booked, they'll bump the people who haven't yet checked in.

Even if it is a chartered flight (i.e. 'holiday' flight?)

I would understand that to happen if flying to somewhere like geneva or amsterdam (non 'holiday' places) but we're flying to the canaries on a 'jet2holiday' booking.

Confused

Yes with Jet2,no with Thomas Cook.

Well I have now checked in online, clicked 'I have read terms and conditions' and clicked 'check in'. It took me to a page on the 'my booking' where you could view meals, insurance etc but STILL giving an option to 'check in' and we have had no email.

Is that correct? Confused

Jet2 don't do that, most budget airlines don't. Easyjet are the only one.

OP I see you have checked in now, but in the situation you describe (already chosen seats, have luggage to drop off), it makes little practical difference.

We are flying Jet2 from LBA in May and will be checking in online when it opens later this week because it gives us the best chance of getting to sit together for free - not chosen seats yet and no DCs and it isn't the end of the world if we are not together anyway, but it would be nice obviously, but not necessary enough to shell out actual money to guarantee it.

Do you have boarding passes? If you have boarding passes, you have checked in, if not, and there is no download/print boarding pass, maybe not.

Did you scroll through all the meals, extra luggage, parking, insurance, dangerous goods declarations etc and enter your passport details?
