We're a family of four, 2 boys aged 4 and 5, looking for suggestions/recommendations of fun places you've been and loved or heard great things about to either visit or stay for a night or two. I like the idea of Legoland, Alton Towers, Centre Parks but also open to Ideas such as camping, yurts - need some inspiration, would love for someone to suggest something a little bit different!?

Where about are you OP? Is distance an issue?

Forest Lodges are nice as an alternative to CP, less activities and no swimming pool but nicer lodges/hot-tubs and more foresty.

There are millions of glamping options - we've done yurts in the lake district - quite near keswick which has a nice pool, great park with crazy golf etc and there is also Rheged and Brockhole and ferry boat trips etc. (And Booths supermarket! yum yum)

Aviemore is great with kids, Landmark centre, Loch Morlich, the funicular railway, Highland wildlife museum and the Highland Folk Museum. My Boys always loved staying in the Coylumbridge but there are plenty of other options.

There was only a year between my two boys as well though they will be 18 and 17 this year.

I would also add that we've done CP with them many many times and they've always loved it.

Crieff Hydro is a good option too. There is a great watersports place at Loch Ken where you can rent huts/yurts on site too.

Thank you so much WaxOnFeckOff these all look like brilliant suggestions and just the kinds of things we love to do, I shall go take a look!
We're in Devon but distance isn't an issue. Thank you Smile xx

Ha ha. We've never come quite as far south as you as we live in Scotland and DH drives for a living so didn't really want to spend his holidays doing the same and I don't like driving on busy motorways...eek!

For city breaks (apart from London which is always great), we've enjoyed Liverpool and Newcastle and you'd love Edinburgh.

Keilder forest is another good place but quite remote.

You could also do worse than to come to Stirling where I am near. Blairdrummond safari park, Briarlands farm, the castle, kings park, auchingarrich centre
