Car Seats

Is it safe to put a rear facing car seat into the middle of the car?

This allows for one person either side to also fasten their seatbelts,we are just not sure if placing thr car seat in the middle is safe and legal?
Thanks

It is safe if the seat is made to also be used in the middle seat. Depends on the car seat really. What does the instruction guide that came with the car seat say?

If it's a Britax seat, the fit-finder on their website will tell you which seats are best in your car.

As long as it is a 3 point belt and it fits properly on the profile of the seat and there is no buckle crunch. The Britax Fit finder is all very well and shows where in the car is suitable but it is far from comprehensive for all car/seat permutations. The Maxi Cosi version is even less helpful.
