public speaking competition - subjects?

My dd who's 10 has to enter a public speaking competition at school and needs a subject to talk about - something kind of witty, anyone's children done any good ones or got any ideas?

I agree with Muminfife. I've some experience of this (though it seems like another lifetime!) and a subject you're genuinely interested in is a must. @ Ruby's teacher!

I'm an English teacher, and off the top of my head my pupils have done the following topics this year (they're all older, so I'll not bother adding any which wouldn't be suitable)

Sorry can't think of any more, most of my pupils speak about things like ASBOs, Domestic Violence etc!
