3days in Berlin

Hi, we are going to Berlin for 3 full days during the Easter holidays. Will have 2 DC (10 & 12). Hoping to book tickets for the Banksy exhibition and a cycle tour. Any other recommendations for what to visit and particularly where/which area to stay? Thanks.

The Spy Museum and the GDR museum were our favourites. Berlin certainly knows how to do a good museum. They're so much better than ones in this country. Even the science museum beats the science museum in London, and I didn't think that was possible! We also booked timed tickets to go up the Reichstag. Tickets are free but need to be sorted out online before hand for security reasons. Well worth doing though. A walk into Tiergarten as far as the victory column is also great. This can easily be combined with a stop at the sobering but impressive memorial to the Jews.

If the weather isn’t great I can recommend getting a group day ticket and hopping on and off the 100 bus which basically takes you past all the sights and is a lot cheaper than the tourist buses!

Re where to stay I’d go for Potsdamer Platz or somewhere off the Ku’damm but as central as possible. It’s a huge city and although public transport is v efficient it’s great to be able to walk places too. The Art Otel chains are pretty good.

You could try the Egyptian museum, that was pretty good. They’re all in one area called the Museums Insel which is handy!

Have fun, it’s a cool place Smile

Breakfast at the revolving restaurant at the top of the TV tower! It's ace.

agree Reichstag.
The DDR museum
Don't trek out to the Stasi HQ for kids that age.
The JEWish museum is way better than I expected

WE stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Stresemann Strasse. Twice. Easy to walk to the Reichstag, huge modern rooms and buffet for breaksfast

Make sure you have a German lunch and beer in one of the traditional inns.

Thai park is meant to be lovely - Thai food cooked al fresco. My Berlin friends eat there a lot.

The Berlin Wall that is left all painted with murals is a must see.

All of the above and I love this place, especially if you can go on one of the special food event evenings (Thursdays, I think) markthalleneun.de
