Toyota Yaris - which car seat?

Just gone to buy a forward facing car seat for dd (9 months) to be told that neither the maxi cosi priori XP, tobi or Britax renaissance fit.... We have isofix but reluctant to go down that route as plan to change the car at the end of the year anyway. Does anyone out there have a Yaris (reg year 2003) and if so which seat do you have? On maxi cosi website says priori should fit so wonder if being over zealous and trying to get us to spend more ££. Tobi looked like it fitted absolutely fine to me and hubbie and she seemed happy with it too but then 2nd woman said prob with where seatbelt coming from as touching tension bar (by 1mm or so!). Help!

Britax have a website where you type in the make of your car and it will tell you which of its car seats fit, worth a go?

I tried that but it only seemed to list the Britax seats - and on that the Renaissance was fine to fit our car. Also been on Maxi Cosi and it says priori XP fits (no info for Tobi as its new model) so I suspect the sales assistant is being either over cautious or wants a ££ sale so will tell me only the isofix will fit? But maybe I'm just being cynical! Thanx anyway though!

tbh i would trust the fitter over a manufacturers list! the fitter is standing next to your car looking at the seat, the website have gathered together a list- they may have not tried the specific trim level of your car etc- there are lots of reasons why you could be getting diff answers.

ps i have fitted a yaris with Silver Cross Explorers recently, also the Britax evolva 1-2-3.

MIne is a 53 but only on booster seats so not a lot of help sorry

My mums and my sister both have yaris's.

i have used lots of car seats, including britax reinassance and maxi cosi priori...

whilts i have not tried them in my mums (or sisters) yaris i can see no reason why they wouldnt fit.

That said IF you do have buckle crunch... where the seat belt fastner is sort of resting on the car seat (even if only by 1mm) it is not safe cause in a crash the buckle may snap and the seat will then not be strapped in at all

My sisters yaris is a 53 and my mums a 04 and i know i have looked and thought oh yes car seats would fit nicely in here

Thanks nearlythere and NannyL - I went to mothercare and they tried the tobi and it fitted fine, so we've decided to go with it. At the wee independent place it looked the best of the 3 and mothercare also said renaissance not safe so... Here's hoping it never gets put to the test anyway!
