Hi there, has anyone had a one day trip to Lapland? We are intending on going in December with 5 kids and are not looking just for the best deal but looking for one that is recommended. There are so many to choose from. Can anyone shed any light? Any tips? We will be 3 adults, 5 kids under 14.

Lapland is the best holiday we ever had - I seriously recommend going for longer if you can, even if it's just a long weekend. There is so much to do: reindeer sleigh rides, snow mobiling, snow shoe walking, husky sleigh driving, saunas, not to mention the amazing landscape. I guess it depends on the age of the kids but I know one family who did a day trip and it was a bit of an expensive disaster as the children were too shattered to enjoy it. But you know your kids best to know if they can cope with that. Have a great time anyway.

We had a fabulous Christmas there jjm, over about a six day period. Children ranged from 4 (which was perhaps a little young) to 11. We all had a fabulous time - big kids included! Organised through emagine, if that helps.

thanks - we have friends coming from Australia with their 4 kids and we can only manage a day or perhaps an overnight. I am a bit concerned - what if all the kids are really cold? if we are only there for one day then it won't be a total disaster. Can you recommend a good company to go with? there seems to be so many - a little overwhelming!!

We went with Activities Abroad. Would thoroughly recommend them. I think they do the one day trips too. And they shouldn't get really cold - all good companies provide clothing which includes an all in one suit, boots, gloves, and suitable head gear - ours even provided socks. It's quite a unique experience feeling that degree of cold on the only bare patch - your nose and mouth!

We went to Jeris in Finladn also with Activities Abroad. A brilliant holiday but fed up with hearing the kids asking to go back this year as well:-)
