Paris hotels (again!) , any Parisian mumsnetters /Anyone who knows Paris - St Sulplice but cheaper?

Dd and 2 friends (18) going in July for a post A levels short midweek break.
We stayed as a family at Relais St Sulplice which we loved, but this is too expensive for them. Ideally they'd like a similar area and we looked at hoteltomichelodeon triple room which they liked. However this is booked for their dates and too expensive as two doubles for the three of them. They are thinking they may go for an Ibis, but I want them to be in an area I feel they'll be safe and they can walk to most things. Ideally a more Parisian hotel rather than a chain.Any thoughts/help?

Would you consider a youth hostel with private rooms ?

Headunderthecovers · 22/03/2018 23:35

Thanks for replying. If it's in a good area I think a hostel should be fine.
. I did interrailing at a similar age and ended up in a not nice area of Paris, catching the metro in to go anywhere and it put me off it as a city.
Yet when we went back I loved it!
I just want them to be safe, as they are three teenage girls who whilst not full on party types are likely to want to go out in the evening, and I also appreciate how lovely Paris is. It's difficult as obviously the central areas are expensive. They'd rather spend a bit more and be somewhere they enjoy than go just budget.

Ok, I’ll have a quick for things in the 5th,6th and maybe the 4th later. I know there are a few decent ones, but can’t remember exactly where.

What's their budget per night?

Headunderthecovers · 23/03/2018 13:37

About £150 ish for the room. Thanks for looking.

I think the best I can come up with is the Best Western Hotel Aramis. Or maybe the Hotel Jean Bart which looks cheap and cheerful.

We like to stay around the Rue du Cherche Midi, which is lovely, but we sometimes head to the Montparnasse area, which is cheaper, but not as salubrious. It's always been perfectly safe around there even if it does appear slightly dodgy!

I’ve stayed at the hotel des Mines near the Luxembourg gardens. Left bank, good value, well run small independent hotel. Recently though I stayed at the hotel du parc in montparnasse, area maybe not as nice but very good value. A bit of a trek on foot up to bld St Germain but doeable in about 20 minutes brisk walk.

This is a youth hostel in the 5th, they have individual rooms. Looks pretty decent and the area is good!
