First adult passport

Hi, I'm looking for some advice on something I'm finding very complicated.

I had a passport when I was 14/15 as I went in school trips abroad and one family trip to France.

Ive not used a passport since I was 15 and I'm now in my 30s. My parents have no idea what happened to that child passport.

I need to apply for a passport now and I've no idea if I need a first adult passport application or a renewal? And I've changed my name since my child's passport was issued after I married.

I'm looking at the passport form and I've no idea what to do, any advice mumsnet? I've been putting this off for months but I need to do it for myself and kids pretty sharpish.

I think it would count as first adult passport...and I think it asks if you've previously had a passport and what has happened to it...have you looked on gov.uk website for further advice?

I haven't checked the gov website, I never thought to. (Fool I am!) I've read through the forms accompanying literature and it says passports need to be sent to them, with ID but it has changing a name on your passport separate from renewing or applying.

Honestly my minds boggled with my dads tales of needing to go to an interview or perhaps the passport office having difficulty identifying me now I've changed name.

If you don't still have the passport, you'll need to apply for a first adult passport (which includes getting someone to countersign your application).

Thanks guys, sorry to ask stupid questions but I'm grateful for the help. I'll put the reading specs on tonight and complete the form.
