Majorca in April. Please tell me it's nice!

I've booked a week in a villa in Majorca over the Easter holidays. I've been googling for things to do and now I'm worried. The weather might be cold and rainy, there are so many cyclists you can't drive anywhere, the beaches are horrible.

I went about 20 years ago and remember loving it!

Please tell me its going to be nice and also some ideas for days out if you know any (older teens). I know Palma is lovely.

Well lots of Majorca is lovely but Easter isn't summer so it won't necessarily be beach weather. It could rain or it could be warm and sunny.

Where are you going? We had a lovely holiday in Majorca a few years ago at Easter with small kiddies. We were on the beach every day. We had one sudden heavy sleet shower, and the sea was cold but we were in T shirts most of the time.

Tralalee · 18/03/2018 16:28

We are lucky enough tohave a heated pool so hopefully we'll be able to swim most days. I guess I am worried its going to be as cold and miserable as here!

Days out - if the weather's bad try the caves - Drach or Campernay or the smaller ones at Puerto Cristo. There's also the monastery at Lluc. We loved the train trip up the mountains to Deia from Palma but you want blue sky to appreciate the views, then take the tram down to Puerto Soller.

The Aqua park will be relatively quiet so no great queues out of season, and still fun as long as its not pouring with rain.

Of course, take some good books and pack of cards and be prepared to chill out in your villa too.

Oh and the beaches are great!

It won't be as cold and miserable as here! You might be unlucky and hit some rain but you will have some balmy days too - probably like May in the UK.

kingjofferyworksintescos · 18/03/2018 16:32

I went there at Christmas , it was slightly warmer than the uk by a degree or two but april is supposedly warmer
The beaches that I saw were clean and beautiful ( saw several folk swimming on Christmas Day brrr !)
Didn't see many cyclists but it was not holiday season and most places were shut down so difficult to say
Very little was open in the way of cafes etc but not tourist season
I can't imagine it being crowded at Easter but start of the season so places should be starting to open
I loved it and will go back later in the spring with DP , I hope you have a wonderful time

Majorca is lovely!

The weather will be lots better than here, don't worry about that. Even if you get a dull day, you will still probably be in shorts and tee shirt for part of the day.
I've been to the Med , every month of the year and even in Feb you will get sun at some part of the day.
Get some Bar-b-ques going! Nice walks, bit of beach, bit of sightseeing!
If much rather go out of season. Have a great time!
Oh! We went with teenagers and packed one of those Swing Ball things.
Got a football while we were there.

Greatestshowlady · 18/03/2018 16:43

We were there Easter last year temperature was lovely 18-24 degrees on average everyday was a beach day and we came home with a suntan. Lots of cyclists especially around the Soller area but not a problem driving around. The beaches are stunning!!
Plenty to do on the Island its very picturesque especially when the sun is out. The forecast looked the same as it did at the moment so don't panic! Tralalee whereabouts are you staying?

BlueAnchor · 18/03/2018 17:01

If you are there Easter weekend, starting Thursday evening, there will be incredible religious celebrations - 'Santa Semana' - in Palma but also smaller towns and villages. I'm not particularly religious but these processions are very moving.

Tralalee · 19/03/2018 09:48

thanks this is all very reassuring! We are staying in a fairly uninteresting area about 20 mins from alcudia. Villa looks fab though.

Book a table at Es Vergeret for a late lunch after visiting the beach at Sa Calobra. It’s a bit of a drive from Alcudia involving hairpin bends but wow is it worth it.

Gorgeous views, amazing paella!

Tralalee · 20/03/2018 14:03

Good call thanks!

Temperatures are about mid to high teens in Majorca at the end of March/beginning of April. Jeans and jumper weather for me. Not swimming weather.

Madhairday · 25/03/2018 21:48

We'll be there too OP, the week after Easter, in Cala Egos near Cala D'or. Can't wait, but like you do hope for some warmish weather! Any recommendations for places to visit while we're there - have heard Pollensa is lovely.

Hope you have a great time!

Brickswithstones · 25/03/2018 21:57

We're also going this Easter weekend. Fingers crossed for a great weather.

MrsJayy · 25/03/2018 22:01

We were there this eastertime 6 years ago weather was nice a bit breezy near the sea the spanish will still have their big coats on though Grin

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 25/03/2018 22:01

I've been going to SW Mallorca for twenty odd years at Easter. We've had everything from two weeks of peeing rain and freezing to two weeks of wall to wall sunshine (everything in between). It's a lovely island with great beaches and your holiday will be what you make of it. Loads of shopping centres in Palma if it's raining and the Aquarium place is good too. As a PP said - take games and cards for rainy days. Def jeans and jumper at night too. Have a lovely time.

Greatestshowlady · 27/03/2018 18:59

Forecast looks pretty good Smile
