Hi - we are going to Barcelona for a long weekend with 15 year old and 5 year old son. Can anyone suggest good things to do with 5 year olds. We are staying in the heart of the city.

there is the zoo and there is also this other place that I can't recall the name of but it's like a man made village where they do filming sometimes. Also park quelle is lovely. Probably the best thing to do will be to buy a tourist bus ticket that will drop you off at all the sites and attractions. There is also a cable car which is quite good. sorry can't remember the names of stuff!!

Tourist bus is good. Maybe half an hour on the beach for the five year old. Just wandering around is wonderful, up and down La Ramblas. Football stadium for 15 year old? (Is on tourist bus route).

A visit to the cathedral is a must and (if you're not scared of heights) a climb up the steps affords amazing views, which even the kids will appreciate.

Have a look here !

Have a great time - Barcelona is the most amazing city!!!

Tibidabo leisure park!

It is on the top of a mountain that gives you the most wonderful views of Barcelona and has loooooots of attractions a bit like Alton Towers !

It is a 20 min ride on a taxi from the city centre. You can also get there by a little tram wihch did make our journey a little adventure. It is a gorgeous ride, all of you will have fun and it is a view that not many people get to see from Barcelona!

A whole day of fun for the whole family!

Have fun!

Don't go to the aquarium - it is v expensive and really not good.

Though I'm not into football we did the tour of the Noucamp one year, was quite interesting and DH thought it was great.

We wanted to go to Parc Guell when we were there in October but just didn't have enough time - looks like a great place to explore with kids, lots of sculptures etc.

Definitely go to Montjuic in the evening - music/light/sound show at the fountains.

We found a one day or 10 journey metro ticket was a good way to get around.

Have a great time, it's a lovely city.

PS - look on tripadvisor if you haven't already!

We also liked park quelle, nice place to wander and explore. The area in just inside the gates and around the stairs there are always busy but lots of areas further in that are quieter.

We made use of the tourist bus too, We found the stops beside the popular places got very busy, but we walked to the stop before onthe route and got on easily and were able to look really smug when it pulled up at teh next stop. Not too far between stops thankfully.

We didn't bother with the aquarium as there were bug queues and suspected it wouldn't be any better than ones at home.

My kids were impressed with the catherdral, but they are 7 and 10 and older one is into design and architecture.

The beach! Steer away from Barceloneta though... it´s much nicer if you walk 15-20 minutes to the beaches further east. There are beach bars dotted around, and the kids love it. You can even look into windsurfing for the 15-year old.

Hiring bikes is a great way to see the city, you can get bike seats, though they may be small for the five year old. There is a great network of bicycle lanes. You can hire bikes by the beach in Barceloneta.

Camp nou... 15 year old boys love it!

The IMAX cinema in Port vell, is good... 3-D films for kids.

The Zoo.. always a safe bet

Walk around Barri Gotic, it´s so beautiful and fun even for kids

Have fun!

Parque Guell is lovely

Sagrada Familia is very impressive, and you can climb up the spires
The museo de sciencias is great for kids

Hire pedalos in Parque Ciutadella

Cable car to Montjuic

Tibidabo fun fair

Las Ramblas, to se the living statues.. they´re touristy but fun (hold on to your handbags though)

Hope that helps... have fun
