Paris restaurant recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a restaurant for lunch in Paris (surprising my sister with a day trip for her 50th birthday) - great views would be fab. Can't really stretch to the Jules Verne, but don't mind spending a bit..,

Have been to Kong before - happy to go there again but wondering if there's anywhere better?

We'll be there for the day so will prob be wearing trainers (lots of walking) so hoping informal-ish dress will work.

Thanks in advance!

We love Leon restaurants. Always full of local people. www.leon-de-bruxelles.fr/en/

Whereabouts will you be? Great views often mean touristy and less than wonderful food. You might want to look at La Fontaine de Mars in the 7th, near the Eiffel Tower.

Don't eat at any of the restaurants at Trocadero - great views of the Eiffel Tower, but very touristy (I'll make an exception for Carette for afternoon tea or breakfast, and their macarons are excellent).

Let me have more idea what you're looking for, foodwise, and atmosphere wise, and I'll recommend something!

Thanks so much for responding.

We'll only be there for the day and will be doing some touristy stuff (eg Eiffel Tower) and a good amount of 'wandering' - I only booked the tickets yesterday and haven't got much further than that really. Going in July - a surprise for my sisters 50th

I guess something mid/high end, French/European food. Happy to take recommendations.

Thanks again!

When in July are you going? Much of Paris shuts down late July and all of August.

I would recommend La Fontaine de Mars, as the food is good, as is the location. Or the restaurant in the re-opened Hotel de Crillon (but will be spendy) for a beautiful venue.

It’s not really flash or €€€ but Julien is beautiful.

Awesome thank you will look at both of those

Ooh well if she likes steak then www.relaisdevenise.com/ (they have it in London now though so perhaps not so special?). I also love le train bleu or Le Fumoir. What a lovely treat for your sister! Enjoy!

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/03/2018 21:35

Oh yes, le Train Bleu would be an amazing venue!

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/03/2018 21:37

Le relais de Venise was very close to where I used to live. I thought it was over rated, on the one occasion I queued up for steak and chips.

Haven’t been to Paris for years but we loved boeuf sur le toit - fabulous seafood platters in a gorgeous Art Deco building:

We did also go to the Jules Verne and it was fab Grin

Lunch at the Jules Verne is only €105 per person...

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/03/2018 21:49

Le Train Bleu

IF you can get a table then the taster menu at Le Chateaubriand is quite an amazing and memorable experience.
