Efteling in 1 day?

We are staying at Duinrell for one week in the summer following lots of recommendations and would like to fit in Efteling too while we are there however is 1 day enough? I believe the schools will ( start of July ) be off then so not sure wither to try or hold off for a separate trip in a year or so.

We loved Efteling!! Stayed there for one day and that was not enough. I hope to go back there for few days

Depends what ages and what you want to do.

You can't do everything in one day, something will have to be cut but that might be fine as everything doesn't suit every age group.

For example we were 2 forty-somethings Blush so we did all the rollercoasters, all the historic rides from my childhood - Fata Morgana, Droomvlucht etc, and the Fairy Forest. But had no need to do all the rest of the stuff aimed at under 10s. Different ages you might be skipping the rollercoasters and so on.

Fairy Forest is a must do and takes quite a while.

Thanks I know we wont fit everything in so its weighing up if its worth it just for the day but I think we should give it a go . I had contemplated trying to change our return date so we could add one or two nights on however our ferry is booked and we have never travelled by ferry before so not sure if they would amend the booking.

We are 2 adults and 3 children aged between 3-7 with the older two being very tall for their age who love rides and we have done most of the theme parks in the UK so I know they will love whatever we do manage to see

Definitely worth it. We did a week at Duinrell last year with a day at Efteling on 30th August. It was very quiet and we had short waits for the rides and managed to fit a lot in. My kids liked it more than Disney Paris (which they also enjoyed a lot). The fairytale forest is lovely for a wander even if the rides are busy. Lots of magical little places hidden away. It is a long day from Duinrell so leave early enough to get there, walk from the car park etc.

We are planning on returning to Duinrell next year and adding on a couple of nights at Efteling.

Definitely worth it for 1 day. I am Dutch and whenever i take the dc over to visit my family we have 1 day at the efteling.

tracelab · 10/03/2018 14:40

Definitely yes!! And if you find you really love it you can always return for longer another time. The queues aren't like Disney, it's much more laid back.

I blog about Amsterdam and The Netherlands. You might find this post and others on my blog useful

@TheSconeOfStone good to hear you also did a day trip. I had thought from google maps it was just over an hours drive from Duinrell is that not correct?

The DC tend to wake before 6am even on holiday so no issues being up and on the road early Hmm

@tracelab thank you I will have a read it seems like a great place to visit with kids

It was just over an hour to drive from Duinrel. My two are later risers on holiday after running round until dark with campsite friends. Being of by 8.00 - 8.30 is a challenge for us.

Enjoy Duinrell. We had a great holiday there.

SweetieBaby · 10/03/2018 16:08

We stayed at Duinrell and visited Efteling in one day. We got there early and stayed until the evening. Totally doable and a lovely park.

GreenBlackRed · 10/03/2018 17:07

Sounds like we will go for it thank you everyone for replying I cannot wait to go Smile
