Three or 4 night stopover ideas going to Perth, Australia

We're looking for ideas for our end of year trip. We've done Dubai, Bankgkok, Bali and Singapore in the past and are looking for somewhere different. Unfortunately it seems Perth isn't the best airport for choice of international destinations. Anyone stopped over in a different country flying this route?

Cathay flies from Hong Kong to Perth.

Thank you. My husband suggested Hong Kong but I'm not sure. We can fly direct there from Heathrow though which is a bonus.
