How many hours of automatic lessons did you take until you passed?

Looking to learn to drive, just passed my theory last week. I want to do automatic, but I'll have no practice in between the lessons. So would just lessons on its own be enough to giving me a possible pass?

Did any of you learn an auto without practice in between? How many hours did you do till you passed? Thanks

I did about 20 hours and had limited practice in between lessons, mainly as my car (ten years old) was so different to drive than the brand spanking new Audi my instructor had it wasn’t actually helping. Have you ever driven before?

I've done 70 hours and not near passing. I'm not good naturally.

Just booked an intensive week with a different company with my text as the end

@mrselvis thanks for the response! Did you take the 70hours straight on or did you pause through out months/years? And are you doing manual to automatic?

I'm also learning automatic. I hadn't ever tried anything before, never tried as a teenager or in a friends car.

So my lessons were always 2 hours and I did around 3 lessons (6 hours) a week. I did this a few months then changed jobs so paused for a few months and then did patchy lessons here and there, where he could fit me in.

I could instantly see how rubbish it was to do a lesson here and a lesson there. The weeks where I had lots of hours I could see I was progressing. The gaps meant I had forgotten things by the time the next lesson came.

I am quite annoyed I didn't just do intensive to start with. It may not be right for everyone but I know one lesson a week would take me years.

I also can't practise in between.... I'm hanging everything on this intensive course now in April!

Yes, I learned in an auto, I had lessons as a teen (12 years ago) but I think I had some muscle memory as it did all click quite quickly. I think after a few lessons your instructor will be able to give you an idea of how many lessons you’ll need.
