South coast of Spain?

Can anyone advise somewhere to stay over the summer on the south coast of Spain? I used to live in the area 20+ years ago and it's changed a lot.... Looking for a small-ish coastal town where we can rent a villa for a few weeks, visit markets, hang out etc but within a drive of Granada, Cordoba or Seville. Family of 4 including 2 kids aged 9 and 13.

Salobrena. My favourite place in the world. Direct buses to Granada too.

Ayamonte/Isla Canela on the border with Portugal.
You get 2 countries for the price of one

And if you are looking for Spain 20years ago I’m sure you will like it, still pretty undiscovered by The Brits.

I ADORE Nerja

Thanks all. Never been to Mijas but slept on the beach at Nerja in 1993 .... it was a little village pretty unknown to anyone outside of Spain back then. I'm sure it's changed but sounds like it's retained its charm. Great ideas to check out, thanks again!
