Bit of a long shot - but can anyone recommend the best route to get to this town from London? I don’t want to hire a car to get there, but would be happy with a (longish?) train ride (rather than a bus) from an international airport (but which one?) I will be travelling alone and expect to be in the area for a week - anything worth seeing? Any advice / tips most welcome!

we have been to Oregon this summer. the easiest place to drive around in - ever. this has to be your best bet I am afraid. public transport in America is not fantastic. you are some distance from the main airports so would in effect be taking a flight into Portland then an internal probably to somewhere around Bend then another private charter to an airport nearby. the cost will be horrific.

once there go and see the John day fossil beds and the first nation museum and first nation sites. fantastic but again, you will be needing that car.

Without hiring a car which would be by far the easiest option, I think a long bus ride is unavoidable. You could fly into Seattle direct or probably Boise or Portland if you change somewhere. Then you'd be looking at a king Greyhound bus trip which is not my idea of fun. If you're can drive, I would definitely do so!

Hey thank you so much - I definitely don’t fancy a greyhound bus! I will take all your advice and hire a car - sounds a much better idea!
