there is a very good app called 9292, which gives details exactly how to get from A to B in Holland, using public transport,

You'd start with the train from Schiphol to Amsterdam central, then a tram I imagine :)

Are you confident to use public transport? if so then train at airport and then walk or tram or bike Wink to your hotel. You can buy the Gvb muti day ticket (at the train station at the airporyt buy this)this means you can travel on any Gvb transport with this card for how ever many days you need. well you buy single tickets or 5 or 7 day its much cheaper to buy the multi of you will you the tram while at Amsterdam.

Get trams from Central Station which is very easily signposted from airport.

We just asked at an information desk at Schipol. Very helpful!

The easiest way is to take the train from Schiphol to Amsterdam Central Station and then take tram 4 or 9 to Rembrandt Plein (about 3-4 stops). The trams depart right outside the station. It is very very easy and obvious with signs everywhere, don't panic.

Ask at the information desk at Schiphol about the best option for tickets.

If you only have hand luggage, you can also walk from Central Station to the hotel, it would take you 15 minutes.

I visited for the first time last year. Took me a while to work it out but I found a combo of Google maps and the Travel Planner from GVB helped.

Train station at Schiphol airport into Amsterdam Central station - then a tram or walk to your destination.

If you go on to Google Maps and plot your route (Centraal station to your hotel) and click on the public transport icon- you will get details of which tram no. you need and the time/distance it will be. Outside the train station are many tram stops. There is also a useful tram stop map which will help you locate where you need to wait.

you can buy tickets on the the trams. A lot of them have a little ticket booth inside where you buy your ticket. but if you plan to use the trams a lot then a day or 3 day pass will be worth while.

Last time I was there, you can get a ticket that will take you by mini-bus to the main hotels in Amsterdam. Not expensive, and saves dragging your luggage on public transport. You can buy the ticket at their desk at the airport. Someone might remember the name of it. I think one of the guide books recomended it.

Citymapper app is available for Amsterdam. Have you been before? Take it easy as you leave Centraal station- the bikes, trams and cars take bit of getting used to. I have nearly been run over a couple of times so now take a moment to get acclimatised before attempting to cross the plazaWink
