One night only

My family have kindly given DH a d I an 'in kind' pressie - one night in a hotel of our choice while they have the children!

So, where should we go?? Needs to be within 2 hours of SW London, and will ideally have a spa.... not more than £300 per night. Prefer more modern hotels to chintzy ones. Would prefer a town or city with something to see/explore.

Ideas????

Brighton Harbour Hotel
www.brighton-harbour-hotel.co.uk
Fabulously decorated bedrooms – many with sea views – and a dreamy location diagonally opposite the pier. Rare for the city, its basement spa features a sizeable swimming pool.
The station is a ten minute walk away.
Expect super-friendly staff to greet you when you arrive. They’re also very happy to suggest sightseeing, bar and restaurant options. Guests get discount at Pryzm nightclub opposite and 50 per cent off overnight parking at the nearby Russell Square NCP. The hotel has a bright and buzzy cocktail bar – HarBAR– and The Jetty is its seafood restaurant. The basement ESPA spa has a hydrotherapy area, a fitness suite, sauna and the pool.
Breakfast had imaginative options like smashed avocado on toast and smoked salmon with capers on bagels.
Even the smallest doubles are decently sized.
All bathrooms have spacious monsoon showers and The White Company toiletries. The bedrooms include decanters of complimentary sherry and gin, alongside Nespresso coffee machines.
