Camper van Australia in April / May? Or where else? (Not the States)

I have time off in April and May and have inherited a little bit (not a lot) of money that I was left to “have fun with”. I am not wealthy so it’s tempting to pay the bills! But I have decided to have fun with it instead!

I have always wanted to visit Australia, but will April / May be too wet and cold? I wanted to do the coastline from Sydney up, but think my timing might be off?

If so, any other recommendations? I’ll be with my husband and twin four-year-olds. (I don’t want to go to the States, though.)

(Alternatively we could swap our time off to May /June!)

In South Australia it's beautiful in April/May. It's Autumn. It would be perfect in my opinion...the weather is extreme in Summer and campervan living is tough when it's hot.

June will be more likely to be wet....

If you do come, don't forget South Australia....Adelaide is often dissed as a poor cousin to Melbourne and Sydney but it's unspoilt, has some amazing beaches with a great and vibrant city.

AjasLipstick - Ooh that’s good to know! Itd be late april to the end of May. I love autumn here, so that sounds great over there! I’ve always wanted to emigrate to Australia, even though I’ve never been, so really want to come and see it! Life’s dream!

I have no idea where to start planning. Adelaide sounds gorgeous!

Also West Australia is good at that time of year.

If you're really thinking of coming here, do make sure you get to Adelaide. It's seriously...and I mean seriously beautiful here. Very vast, very clean and very unspoilt. There is history here too despite what people say....it's an incredibly artistic place with constant festivals and celebrations of various arts.

The beaches....oh the beaches!

We lived in Aussie for a few years. One holiday we flew to Darwin, picked up a camper van and drove down to Alice Springs via Kakadu National Park. It was magical, one of the best hols ever, even with a 2.5 year old toddler.

Go for it, holiday of a lifetime.
