Alitalia

I have just booked Alitalia flights to Bari (well, via Milan). It says no free luggage allowance, and gives no information about cabin bags. I have also just read that they went bankrupt in May. Have I just wasted a lot of money? Please reassure me!

Alitalia go bankrupt very week. They also were down to their last litre of fuel when we flew with them in 2008. They’re the national carrier though, so the Italian government won’t let them go under completely. They’ve been bailing them out for years I think.

I can’t remember about luggage - sorry. Probably like most other budget airlines though.

Thank you. I can see now why their flights are so cheap!

When you book with Alitalia, like BA and Lufthansa (and I guess many others but those are the ones I use most) you get the 3 pricing bands and you choose- hand luggage only, bog standard economy and economy flex.

Etihad now own most of the company and if/when they lose money (again) the Italian govt will bail them out (again)

When are you going?

Thanks for the responses. I have paid for 1 bag, but will take hand luggage for the 6 of us. I was worried that I couldn't take hand luggage! We are going in July.
