Berlin hotel recommendations?

Planning a couple of days in Berlin with DH in May/June, wondering if anyone can recommend a good hotel?

Not interested in hostel or super-cheap but not the Ritz either. Somewhere nice, clean, central, decent breakfast. Neither DH nor I speak much German ;-)

Pretty much everyone we have met over several years of trips speaks English in Berlin!

HAve a look at the Motel One hotels, they are all really nice hotels and very reasonably priced. You can take your pick of locations as most of them are well located for seeing the sights.

We stayed at Hampton by Hilton at Alexanderplatz central Berlin. Good room, really good rates and yummy buffet breakfast. We used last minute.com

MOtel One looks perfect - it's just for a couple of nights and as long as it's clean and comfortable that'll be perfect.

I have a few stock phrases in German, I know how to say "I don't understand" and "Excuse me, do you speak English?"

We stayed in the Hotel Indigo in Alexanderplatz. It was lovely, and the restaurant was great. Great cocktails too.

We've just come back from a few nights in Berlin - we stayed at the Hotel Berlin, Lutzowplatz 17. It's a 5 minute walk from a train station (Nollendorfplatz) that takes you towards Zoo Garten in one direction (and close to Ku Damm with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants etc) and towards Alexanderplatz in the other direction. It's just a 15 minute walk to Zoo Garten station where we met the walking tour guides (Insider Tours - they do several walking tours in and around Berlin in English and are absolutely brilliant)

I've stayed at the Hotel Berlin before for work and chose it this time because of its good location, it's modern, staff are friendly and speak English and the breakfasts are good.

Getting to and from Tegel Airport is easy as well - on our departure, we caught the bus 100 yards from the hotel to Zoo Garten and then took the X9 airport express bus. Took us about 30 minutes in all and our daily ticket (AB ticket) covered us for €7 instead of about €25 by taxi.

Hope you have a great time!

We stayed here and loved it. Walking distance from the underground and the Sky centre. Lovely extensive buffet breakfast and fab cocktails in the balcony bar. Quiet area which suited us. Have a brilliant time!
