Best family holidays with three under five?

I’ve been reading an old thread from 2013 with people recommending their best holidays ever. Lots of lovely recommendations but I wonder how things have changed since then.

What have your best ever holidays with children been? More specifically; We have three little ones (5, 3 and 1) and are currently looking for holidays at the beginning of April. We’d consider most climates for an amazing holiday but thinking some sunshine would be nice after all of this icy weather at the moment!

The beginning of April is mild and warm in lots of Mediterranean destinations, but I'm guessing with three under five you'd like as short a flight as possible. I think I'd head to the Balearic islands, Sardinia or southern Spain, all of which should be very pleasant without being too hot (or too far away). It's been a while since I had such young DC (my youngest is almost 7), so are you thinking villa or family-friendly resort?

We’d love a break from the every day cooking and washing up so a resort is most likely. I do love the idea of Sardinia. The climate of the canaries might be a bit better though. Ds hates chilly weather so think the swimming pool would be out of it was less than 20 degrees!

Holiday village Majorca staying in a duplex appt was brilliant for us- there is one covered pool which is warmer, a brilliant little splash park and younger kids play area, and kids clubs from 3years and creche from 1 (creche payable), if you got a duplex though there is a hot tub on the roof- my kids loved it and it was warm, also meant we could put the kids to bed and then enjoy the hot tub or a drink in peace. It's a first choice one and the staff ratios are British- my son went to 3 creche sessions, and loved it! Still talks about the lady! Majorca is beautiful and the nearest beach is lovely, but the island itself is great for exploring by car (and cheap too), April may be cool, but we went in late October just as season was closing and it was gorgeous- about 25 degrees. The food was good for AI and it was a holiday we actually relaxed in as a family

You could also take a look at Malta or Cyprus. The Canaries are lovely at any time of the year, tbh, but make sure you get somewhere with a heated pool. The resort we stayed at in Lanzarote (the Sandos Papagayo), which was otherwise amazing, had pools that were really chilly. Mind you, there were four of them, so perhaps heating them all is prohibitively expensive year-round? Do check though before you book, if a warm pool is essential.
