Looking to stay either in Corfu Town itself or a relatively short distance out (10 / 15 mins) for a few nights in June. We are heading to the North of Corfu for a week after that but have a few days to find accommodation for before and I have been to Corfu Town before and thought it was beautiful. We arrive late at night hence don' want to travel too far from the airport and would like to be able to get into town in the daytime.

Ideally looking for a child friendly hotel with pool but would consider apartments / all inclusive. Has anyone been anywhere they would recommend?

There's not many (or any) hotels with pools in the town itself but if you look at Kobtojali, Dassia, Gouvia there are loads abd they're not far from town. If you are on FB ask to join the Corfu Forum as locals will help you. You might be better with an apartment.

Corfu Palace Hotel is a short walk from the old town. It's not completely kid-orientated but it is family friendly. They have family rooms and some suitable options in the restaurant.
