I'd like to do a tour by train with DD probably next year so plenty of time to plan, I was thinking probably a stopover Germany then a few nights in Venice, Rome and maybe Florence then home via the Alps with a night or two somewhere scenic.
There are a few companies who will book this all for you, tickets, excursions, transfers, hotels etc. A few people (with kids who've traveled) have suggested it'll be cheaper to book it all myself separately. Has anyone done it both ways? Any advice?
