The Living Rainforest at Newbury is a good day out with small children and is largely indoors. Children can get up close to lizards, monkeys, armadillos etc.. There's a children’s play area, café and free parking.

Alternatively at Swindon, Studley Grange Craft Village and Butterfly World has 2 attractions at one venue so there is plenty to do and see with the kids.
There are loads of craft units with a great variety of handmade items from chocolate, to photography to toys. You can have a go yourself at activities such as jewellery making, chocolate creating, quilting and painting. Be sure to check out the Imaginarium and the permanent Lego exhibition.
Bang in the middle of the village is a great indoor play area, called Bonkers, which has a really inventive range of equipment for the kids to play on such as Ball Cannons and Magic Ball Jugglers! At the next door Butterfly World you can walk among some beautiful butterflies as they fly freely past a backdrop of tropical plants and skim over fish ponds. The Animal Paddock has a growing ‘gang' of meerkats, plus some mischievous otters. They also have pheasants, ducks, turkeys and geese, plus guinea pigs, rabbits and more.
