Used to go to IOW as a child but have never taken mine. We are having an early holiday abroad this year so thought IOW would be nice late august.

Anyway planning to go about 28/8 and have seen a pre-erected tent for 4 nights for £269 at Nodes Point. Now from someone who has never camped in their life I dont know if this is a good deal or not, or what its like, or if I will cope without hair straighteners

Is there still lots to do for children on IOW, lots of suggestions welcome

pickledpear · 03/05/2007 11:45

gosh we could have a MN weekend rally i must get hold of tiger and let him know cant think of his name was it Rory?

mosschops30 · 03/05/2007 12:11

Ok friends have invited us to camp in Oxwich this weekend and dh has just bought a 4 person family dome tent so theres no going back now.

That Carpenters Farm looks nice, maybe an option now we have our own tent.

Peachy what would the benefits of Nodes Point be over camping at Carpenters Farm, as we plan to spend no time making the most of entertainment or indoor pool/kids club etc

clean toilet block????

PeachyChocolateEClair · 03/05/2007 12:38

I don't know car[enters farm 9though sounds like pickledpear might LOL)- I would say though that Nodes is as close to a nice quiet beach as you can get-(there is no closer really, bar the private beach we're camping on in July (LOL )) and I can tell you the toilets etc are new- were upadted last year- and clean.

And entertainment etc is a handy standby if it rains. because of course this is England and it does rain sometimes!

Oh the bring your own tent field is even closer to the beach than the pre-rerects- great view of the bay from there, 2 minute (?) walk to the shore.

pickledpear · 03/05/2007 12:38

if you have your own tent the island is your oyster look on tourist site there must be absoulute loads

PeachyChocolateEClair · 03/05/2007 12:39

have a look at the caravan and camping club website- their site on IoW is the only toehr one we've fancied, its £35 to join but you'd save more than that anyhow and then membership lasts for a year.

MegaLegs · 03/05/2007 13:15

Think we are going to do Carpenters Farm if there's space. We should all meet up on the beach.

suejonez · 03/05/2007 13:53

when are you going megalegs?

mosschops30 · 03/05/2007 16:40

suej - think we might go thurs Sun at end of half term week. DH needs to sort out his tree jobs first.

pickledpear · 03/05/2007 17:10

oh dear harman you may not be living in the same styl as last year but it still looks ok i know where it is

pickledpear · 03/05/2007 17:11

you will be on island same time as megalegs

PeachyChocolateEClair · 03/05/2007 18:50

We always take our own tent- the stability (with ds1 and ds3 beingA SD) is one of the solid reasons behind having the tent (besides the wine drinking )

mosschops30 · 04/05/2007 11:45

have asked about taking own tent peachy and as you say its fine. We have just bought one (literally today) but its nothing fancy, 2 bedrooms and a small living area, do you think this is ok?
Also as we're not real campers yet I take it we dont need an electric hook up, as we will have nothing electric running from the tent right??

They are so helpful when you phone, I cant wait to go. Are you going the same week?

How many of us are there from 26/08 then?
