Going to spend a day in San Juan, Puerto Rico... anybody been? and how safe is it?

I'll be stopping in san juan for a day and I was wondering whether anybody has been and how save it is there. Reason for the question is whether I'll 'dare' take my not so cheap camera equipment with me when venturing out with just one other person or whether I'd be safer in a group.

Hi there. We were in San Juan in April last year, and I felt pretty safe - the Old Town is very touristy and cute and I assume this is where you'll be? (the rest of San Juan isn't much to look at). You'll be fine with your normal camera, as long as you use the good sense you would use anywhere! xxxx
